TC help needed

A mate of mine with a 90 TD5 has recently taken his pride and joy to a garage and they informed him it needs a new transfer box !!! I took it out for a drive today and the box is fine in high and low ratio but the TC light is now on

I know nothing about TC or possible faults or what to look for...

Any help would be appreciated thanks

traction control is nothing to do with t/box

just checking there are no sensors on the transfer box that would affect the TC

no theres only a sensor for high /low ,youd have to have fault codes read,no abs light ?

no abs light just tc in high and low, is it the standard obdi reader thingy for a TD5 ?

no idea,some do some dont ,hawkeye or autologic etc will,why do you say tc in high or low ?

read faults it wouldnt be a t/box issue at all ,tc fault ie block or ecu

Normally a wheel sensor, or wheel bearing.

Just going from my disco2, the tc used the abs system, if you got a fault on either you got 3 lights on the dash, assumed the system would be the same?

it is the same but if you only have tc and no other lights it should rule out sensors

Also uses the abs block then, the shuttle valve plays up but again cannot understand why only tc light on...
