Folks,
I'm driving (when it starts freelander hard top TD4 2004 BMW version.
Been working on solving a slow start problem. By slow start I mean in ignition key full turn, the engine responds by firing up within 3 turns (within three normal engine startup sounds). But when the engine has been running for a while and heats up, it takes many, more than 10 engine turning sounds before finally starting.
Following allot of discussions with land rover mechanics (who couldn't find the problem on computer, they said put the cam sensor in freezer after long run. Did so and it started quick when the cold sensor was put in hot engine.
SO... Today I bought a £100 new cam sensor arrives, NO change in performance on warm start. Engine just turns over and runs down battery before just about starting the engine.
Now I did notice that the TC dash light (amber) and hill descent lights appear on second/third start up, along with a whining sound from what appears to be behind the glove compartment on passenger side.
I really would appreciate any insights on this one folks, as its baffled my land rover dealer and to say the least is really annoying given I could be stranded/battery run down if not sorted.
