Tapping power from fuse box

Hi

I need to take power for a gadget on the dash. The fuse box in the passenger foot well looks like an obvious source (and there is a nice bolt carrying the neg nearby) But any ideas on how to actually make a connection? I am reluctant to mess around removing the box to get into the back, and I can't see a sensible way to identify and access a particular wire from the very tight bundles going in and out.

Right now I have just poked a wire into the protected side of a fuse slot and jammed the fuse on top !! What's the"proper ' way?

Use one of these.

You can plug it into a permanent, accessory, or ignition live fuse slot. Place the removed fuse into the device so power is restored to that circuit. The pigtail is also fused at your desired rating.
Easy, neat and cheap. ;)

If using 2 fuses of the same rating ok. but remember the 2 slots are NOT the same thing.
If you find yourself removing a 15 amp fuse from the engine fuseboard to piggyback a 5A, the 15A and 5A fuses have to go in the correct piggy back slots before the piggyback is pushed into the fuseboard. The 15A taken from the fuseboard would have to go into the slot nearest the blades,

Mr Devlish :) would that be a little bit lie this :Dbelow this fuse board is not a FL1 though.

What a bloody good idea. I presume one fuse does the original circuit and the other does the new feed?
