Hi guys.....I replaced the complete tailgate regulator assembly a few weeks ago after the position sensor on the original failed. Since fitting the replacement, when the rear door latch is operated to open the door, in 50% of the time the glass will drop about 1" below the trim and at other times it will lower about 1/2" and does not quite clear the top plastic channel. The window has been calibrated and the regulator adjusted to give just under 1mm of pressure on the rubber door/window seal. The glass does not foul any trim etc. and moves quite freely. I have however noticed that there is some "free play or backlash" in the motor drive itself-not the cable assembly. Is this normal ?? Can someone out there do a quick check for me....Can you open the tailgate and try lifting/lowering the glass by hand to see if this "Backlash" is normal, there is no need to use any brute force, just hold the top of the glass with your fingers and gently try to move it up and down. I can move mine about 30-40mm. Cheers

Forgot to add that the cables and spool were replaced and mechanically, apart from the motor backlash everything else is fine.

mine has no play at all IR

Thanks for that Bud...appreciated . It confirms my suspicion there is wear in the motor gearing because the plastic pulley responded to the movement of the sliders (Glass clamps) without any slackness or play and it looked as though the output shaft on the motor/gearbox had backlash in it.

I can live with it at the moment until I get a few pennies together for a new regulator.

Fitted a new regulator to mine a few weeks ago, no play in the new one. If you need any bits off my old one give me a shout as only the cable on the original had started to breakup.
