Hi All

I have a Landrover Freelander GS 2.0D Y reg and it is my first ever 4x4. Very impressed.

I have a couple of issues but the main issue for help is this:-

I am not 100% sure what the key on the tailgate actually does. I am presuming it will either unlock the vehicle or /and lower the rear window. Wouldn't mind knowing for sure.

Anyway on assumption the key should do something, I have had a little poke around and found that when I turn the key, it activates a micro switch. In the rear all I can hear is a clicking coming from the window motor and at a relay behind the right side panel. So when key is turned, just a series of clicks and nothing further.

All the central locking, and window tailgate are working from the switch in the dash and when you open the door at rear tailgate. I am assuming that the clicking is not related to the motor as this works from the dash switch. Maybe wrong.

If any help is offered, gratefully received. Would like to try and get it working if possible. Also the drivers door barrel is knackered and needs replacing, can I get a barrel from the main stealers as I did manage to order a set of keys and remote alarm fobs. Hopefully just need to get the door barrel only. Wont know until Monday now unless anyone here knows at all???

By the way hi all and any replies happily, welcomed.

when u turn the key and leave it turned it should make the window go either up or down can never remember which way tho

and as mine is fooked i cnt go find out either

Thanks for the reply. No, mine doesn't do that at the moment, trying to fix it so it does. Getting a click by the relay and window mechanism but no actual movement of the window. Not actually sure what to look for to repair and what exactly is supposed to happen. Know now the window works of the key and that's it.

Hi

Tailgate glass can be lowered by pressing the unlock button on the fob for 2 seconds - a feature for putting yer stuff in the back where access is limited for opening the tailgate completely.
Put the key into the tailgate keyhole and turn clockwise, the glass will go back up - (the only function for this tailgate keyhole) - or use the dash switch ;)

Thanks... :)... Never new what it was for. I see now. Not that worried about getting it going properly now as I thought it unlocked everything. I do need to get the barrel on the drivers door sorted as unable to get in at all if keyfob dies...
