I looked on ebay there is a lot of cheap 1.8 petrol ones:lol:

Id want a td4 commercial, but thems to dear:(
Tis a problem. Not many commercials about as they didn't make many. You could buy a 5 door td4 and cover the rear windows. You still got yer digga?

Thanks for all the replies (And entertainment !!) guys. Must say that the modified seal fix looks very neat and looks better than the original LR !! The Son-in-Law is into double glazing and I think a request for a couple of foot of window beading is in order.
My mate and his Missus are coming over here next week and he has picked up a s/h tailgate in Epson Green (Same colour as mine), rust free from a breakers in Coventry for me.
I'm hoping that the handle comes off mine o.k. without breaking any studs-looks like the can of Plus Gas I have had for years is going to earn it's corn-or reputation ! Would hate to have to buy another handle for between £70-£100 -we will have to wait & see. I also have a can of the freezing release spray, has anyone used it-is it any good ?
Keep you posted ;)

may i also say check the sleeved grommet that goes round the loom that goes to the rear high level brake light, mines was perished and noticed water and mud at the bottom of the door, also the mud etc had blocked the drainage holes

used a tin of wd40 with the tube on, poked it through all the holes and gave it a blast and now all clear

cant find a suitable sized sleeved grommet, looks around 35 mm , but really need 2 as the door is double sleeved, so most proberly going to use some silicone

plus I've never seen that kind of trim before would u be so kind to put a link up where to buy it from please, hope u didn't mind me asking

hope u didnt mind me saying but just thought i would mention it just in case u didn't notice it

Can't help with the grommets, other than to say check a breakers.

Regarding the seal section, I have had a look on Ebay-searched "Double glazed window seal" and a load of stuff came up showing loads of different profiles. They will send a sample pack for 99p + post, looking at the seals they sell it in lengths of 3metres plus for around 99p depending on the profile.

So you've not dropped anything in the last week then. :boink: (green house roof)

X2 pallets of blocks
clipped drain
smashed a few tiles

But considering I do probably thousands of lifts each week my damage percentage is quite low
I probably #### up about 5% of my lifts, mainly pallet damage and spillages
No injury's
No major ve hick u lar damage
minor scuffs to machine

:p

Removed handle in mine yesterday

IMG_0452.jpg

Probably first time from 13 yrs. A lot of dirt...

IMG_0459.jpg

But when cleaned... not many rusty spots...

IMG_0458.jpg

First two mounting holes are healthy, lower have some little "bubbles"...

IMG_0457.jpg

Third one is the worst

IMG_0460.jpg

After paint remove...

IMG_0462.jpg

And cleaning. Rest of rust inserts will be cured chemically.

But i need a new handle...:( Rubber seal is in terrible condition, one spring fall of and mounting nuts are terrible corroded... No spare parts available from land rover so complete handle is needed.

I have yet to swap my tailgates over. I will post photo's showing the extent of the damage within the next week.
The replacement tailgate has been painted up and I have to swap the innards over from one to the other. Obviously with the weather the way it is, and is forecast to stay pretty much the same, the time is right just in case I have to leave the rear of the car "Open" overnight if the reassembly drags out.
The nuts securing the existing handle are corrosion free and are the studs so hopefully shouldn't be any problems removing it.
:)
