Yes...

Piccy is Nufenen Pass in Switzerland in mid July 2011....in a 89 110 fitted with a 300tdi. Me the wife and a tent. :)

If your worried about breakdown try ADAC.
German and in German....£80 covers YOU in any vehicle anywhere in Europe and the UK. Though I went with no cover...some spares under the drivers seat. Only hicup was a blown intercooler hose on the autobahn...just drove on until we found parking and fitted new hose (one of the spares I had) then away we went again.

Sell the kids on e bay to fund the trip then take your time, nice hotel, food, drink etc:D

Took my disco to Nurenberg & Bayruth in January, never missed a beat, only used a tank & a bit to get there. Only problem was the driver who has decided he is too old to drive 800 miles in one hit.

I have friends who take their 200tdi 'fender all over europe with little problem. The secret is to do all the maintainance before you go and have good breakdown cover just in case.

well your fender will have no problems in doing it trust me, i have done england to poland more than i can count on both hands in a series 2a series 3 a pair of series 3s Aframed togehter when the german polish border was still active 110v8 with and without trailers and caravans all much older and a further route than switzerland all went out some decieded they like poland but have been back and forward to the uk in varying health (worse was 98 in convoy range rover centre diff went bang in poland limped home a series 3 came back with zero eletrics lights etc and mulgrips holidng brakes together and a 110 came back witha v4 and a tractor distributor this is before you could get parts for land rovers in poland) but if you know your vehicle no reason why not go for it i say it will be an adventure no matter what happens

A few years ago my cousin (who's a teacher) and her husband + 2 kids took a year out and drove their 110 across Europe to India & Nepal. As she was a teacher and the kids were young enough she was able to take them out of school. Epic journey. They sold the 110 and bought a refurbished G4 Discovery 3 which they then took to N Africa and sold it before they returned.

Cheers folk

I think I will go for it. RAC cover (Already a member) is £95.

Looked at hiring a car, but that aint cheep, plus fuel, plus loss of having a crack doing it, Europe here we come :)
