I want o install this switch panel on my 1989 land rover defender 90 and I'm not sure where I can install as I originally wanted to install near the dash but I also thought about installing it in the cubby box any help or ideas on how to go about installing it in a place that is practical.

Why don't you cut out a cardboard template and trial fit it in various places.
I think I would find a suitable cubby box and fit it to the front, or even make your own cubby box.

I was thinking of putting in a cubby box I don't have one at the moment. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

As long as the switch’s are not important a cubby box will be fine. Reason… you won’t be able to see the switches when you use them.also make sure the cubby box does not have cup holders to interfere with switch’s/usb cables.

Search mud dash items. These mount in the centre of the dash

Cheers appreciate that. I'll check out mud dash items see what I find👍🏻

I ended up putting my switches in a MUD dash pod

Just a word of warning about the item in the picture, i got one of those to install in the back in a custom shelfing box i built and i found a few of the crimps were loose on the prewired harness.
Before you start with it, i would recommend recrimping everything or try pulling the wires to just check, last think you want is a live wire rattling around in the dash

It will be the cheapest of Chinese tat which will be barely capable of switching a relay.
I have one of them Mudstuff things, took it off as it restricted the view of the passenger front corner.
