Hi all

Part of the process of rebuilding my defender onto a galv chassis will be new suspension.

I don't mind paying for quality - in fact I would rather do that.

So, along those lines, what can people recommend? I can't justify ome, but at the other end I never read any good reports about britpart.

I am thinking something like terrafirma?

All advice welcome.

Thx

Will

i fitted +2 terrafirma shocks with +2 bearmach blue HD springs about a month ago, that coupled with new OE rubber all the way round has transformed the handling of my 110.

I fitted +2" light duty terrafirma springs and shocks on my rebuilt galvanised chassis along with full polybush kit and 35 x 1250 x 15 wheels & tyres and the ride is perfect ,nice and tight with no knocks or bangs.

Never had any problems with standard height HD Flat dog springs all round,

Corners better and grips nicely better that most cars I've had

We are looking at fitting terrafirma +2 springs and shock's once we have re-built and fitted both axles hopefully next month as i need to buy a disco rear axle to convert my 90 to rear disc brakes, so once all that's done we can then move onto the suspension :D

I put all four standard britpart springs on mine
Under normal drivings they are very nice and comfy, where as any corner at speed and they do roll a bit, but I don't have an anti roll bar fitted, but at £15 a spring you can't complain

after my 90 failed MOT on the damper bushes I fitted stand height Britpart Cellular Dynamic as they come with Polyurethane bushes, foam inserts all meant to give a more controlled ride as I use mine 95% on road.

Result it feels exactly the same ! Its not an upgrade/improvement.

I go for Bilstein or Terrafirma from the reviews.

Terrafirma shocks can be a bit harsh over the bumps unless you've got a big of weight in the back from my experience. They are standard height all terrain model. I am using the standard 90 springs. But they're a tough shock, I've done all sorts off road with them and they have taken it all in their stride. If I was getting shocks again for the 90, I think I would go Bilstein as an all rounder.
