Did a couple of lanes on my way back from Sandown Park on Sunday. Leatherhead through Polesden Lacey and throught to Honeysuckle Bottom. Not many walkers about, too hot for em!

Very dry and very bumpy n rooty.

as you can see from photo's i ended up in the peak district over the weekend, i am however possibly up for some laning this saturday if anyone fancies it - depends when i can get my 110 back coz i desperately need to head off to europe!

Carpy it looks like you had a blast in the peaks, wish I'd gone up after seeing the pics.. What you wanna do in Europe ?

Also let me know when you want to pick up the 110, cause I need to drop my 90 off with Chris, and transports a pain in the bum. I could pick you up, take you over there, leave the 90, and you could give me lift back to Ripley, if that sounds good ?

Hey Pintsize, have you thought about getting a Landy ? Those noodle eating kung fu kickng brothers from Tokyo know nothing about making cars
:hysterically_laughi

Actually when i've finally finished ragging the Jap one, was gonna get an ickle Defender, but that won't be yet. Moving has been a bit of an expense, what with the colour-blind decor that I have had to paint over (three coats over everything) and will be replacing the granny carpets with nice flooring. I think my purse has a hole in it...........

europe is just a little jaunt with a friend to go see some family and have a good time really, but im on a really tight time limit because ideally i need to be back by the 18th

i dont know when i will be picking her up - it depends when they get the work done but im gonna call up kris and make a couple of suggestions later which might speed things up a little.

good idea though mate i would be more than happy - sounds like that will save us both some hassle. will have a barbeque ready on this end if you like

You should have spoken up, I have 4 tins of NATO GREEN that I would have let you have for free :)

And I want to help rag the slitty.... (apologies if that just sounds rude..)

and Carpy just stay in touch regarding your repairs, Kris did say he had alot to do on your vehicle... can't think why ??????

Just a small list of things to do.

O/S rear indicator showing white light.
Fog light switch not lighting.
Rear anti roll bar and bushes worn away.
14 inch long hole in n/s chassis rail.
Hole in n/s front outrigger.
Front radius arm bushes worn away.
CB fitted where the rear view mirror should be.
Brake pedal rubber missing.
3 rear passenger seats and only one seat belt.
Drivers seat belt worn.
Headlamps fitted wrong.
Re-fit front number plate.
Rear number plate light hanging off and not working.
Wiper only clears part of the A zone of the screen as it is badly positioned.
Drop arm so loose the steering wheel can be turned 1/4 of a turn before wheels turn, splines on steering box and drop arm damaged.
Drag link ball joint nut loose, no split pin fitted.
Drag link ajustment clamps missing.
N/S lock stop broken, causing wheels to rub on radius arms.
N/S front wheel bearing broken up and stub axle destroyed, brake piston seals cooked, CV shaft welded to inside of Stub and then snap off.
Very close to the point of the whole wheel falling off on the road.
Service and MOT.
WASN'T VERY HAPPY WHEN CARPY SUGESTED NOT FIXING THE STEERING TO SAVE TIME AND WOULD IT MATTER FOR THE MOT.

We have a Winner!

I would be looking at:
Brake disk,
Pads,

Possibly hub,
stub axle,
Bearings,
CV joint,
Caliper seals if not complete caliper,

Basically everything from the axle end (7 bolts, or oldertype 6 bolts that atach to the axle tube) outwards needs replacing/careful inspection and rebuilding.
Also take careful note of:
Diff oil,
Inner shaft (inspect carefully),
Check diff for damage,

At a guess I would say heat has built up so much, boiling the grease in the hub bearings and CV. then running them not lubricated i.e. metal on metal they then let go.
I take it you didn't feel the brakes binding or notice the hub was getting hotter at all before it pulled to the nearside?

Jesus Kris you have your work cut out thats alot of messing about and an emense ammount of time to get sorted properly to just get it to an MOTable state. The way Carpy was talking this weekend it wasn't all that bad just needed a few bits sorting.

14inch hole in chassis rail,

Its mad that the later Chassis are so much thinner or of a lesser grade of steel there are so many C,D, and E reg motors still going strong. I think it was F or G reg when they changed to a lower grade of metal defo with the axle casings anyway. The Chassis shouldn't have holes in that big for its age. Carpy after Kris sorts it we must do a Waxoil session hook up and get the waxoil a drippin' everywhere its worth it to keep the motors strong.
