fit the back axle off a disco

My question was would it not be false economy to replace a brand new drum brake axle, with a 150 000 mile Disco axle that someone like James has used to drive down the steps of hell at Mach 3.5 with his hair on fire ! :p

and wouldn't it be better to just do the brake conversion, assuming there is a cheaper way than the Zeus engineering kit ? ;)

Sounds interesting :D Are you doing a rece anytime soon then?

will go out now and try to get some OS maps of the area - coz theres a few byways heading off my map. that may just be a plan for this sunday if anyones up for it

its not my neck of the woods either mate - but theres nothing my way and these look intruiging! for you its round the m25 and then down the m23 - not too bad. im coming from the m40 so also a bit of a treck and some of these look to be quite good

Geez Carpy you have done your homework ;) That does sounds like a good trip. Unfortunately I had already given up on anything happening and made other plans.. Next time I'll know that if Carpy says he is going out, he really is :D

haha yea i stick to my word, not always a good thing that!

ahh well you got my number now, so if you ever wanna get muddy give us a shout!

Bugger - I only saw this yesterday afternoon, otherwise I would have been up for it for sure! Assuming that a lumbering land cruiser wasn't going to upset the crowd :D

How was the outing then?

wasnt much of a crowd, just the 2 of us this time having a little snoop around though did meet a few familiar faces on the rounds!

outing was good, and marked up some pretty decent lanes! will go for another recce some time soon if people are interested! were a few restricted lanes which was a shame

wow a lots been happening on here in the short time i've not been on!

Oi booger I didnt go down the steps at mach 5, infact I didnt do any laning or off-roading in that disco whatsoever. It just had a journey from romney marsh, before i ripped out its heart and drivetrain!

If you want we cam arrange another tip sometime soon. do some of the lanes you haven't done.

Booger, don't think you've done the ones around leatherhead, going over to ranmore and leith hill have you?

ahh thats the lot we did yesterday, some pretty good stuff in and around leatherhead

i want to go to salisbury plain though, thats only an hour or so down the M4 from me!

I rekon i know the reason that Stane street is TRO'ed.... Probably that bloody golf course bunging the council a few quid to shut it

yeah i imagine so. Drove past beggars lane the other day and it didnt have any of the signs up or the blocking posts, indicating it was open. However had a look at the notice on thepost which said the TRO has been extended an extra year until 2010 for motor vehicles however Motorbikes are allowed down! Will go down on my mtb sometime to see what it's like now
