"Mein gott in himmel"
I knew there was a good reason to have no carpets in a Landy.
Byt the way the ones in the Dento are in good nick and don't smell.... the carpets that is. The footwell doesn't smell either :D

Due to winch failure when daft needed it most I spent yesterday stripping and rebuilding my winch. It is now back in working order minus the wireles remote. My so called waterproof bridged solonoid housing contained around half an inch of Salisburys finest mud. The bridge of the solonoid housing although metal and sealed does not have any gaskets so all surfaces are metal to metal and therefore leak. I am gonna seal all joints with silicone tomorrow.

Cos mine is sealed the water pressure pushes in through the tiny gaps when wading. It then drains back out leaving the mud/silt behind until the housing is full. My wireless remote casing also in the bridge was filled to the brim with soggy mud and is what was causing the problem. It is now deceased. I am hoping it'll work once it has dried out. There isn't a spec of mud anywhere now but if I don't seal it properly I will have the same problem again. I just can't believe they sell it as 'waterproof' with no gaskets or seals whatsoever.

ave yer gorra spare way in yer consoomer unit?
if so, bung a 16A MCB in it and run a 6mm T&E cable to ter garrige, terminate it wiv a 16A socket and fanny's yer aunt john.;)

the garidge has a consumer unit run straight from house consumer unit. so i can run straight from garidge consumer unit to 16A socket - but that dont help Grippa - or me if i use it anywhere other than my garidge - duz it, Trewy?
