Studded Tyre - UK Supplier?

Heading over to Norway & Sweden for 4 weeks in Feb, whilst studded tyre arn't required by law I think it would be a sensible idea driving on inches of ice and having driven over there before on studded and non-studded tyres would prefer the extra grip of the studded ones.

Does anyone know anywhere in the UK or a good european provider that supplies them? Or even better a second hand pair with plenty of tread on going cheap?:)

Studded tyres are illegal in the UK, so they'll be like rocking horse **** to find. My Tyres are the only people I can think of mail order. Details: Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT 235/85 R16 120/116Q 10PR studdable BSW - mytyres.co.uk

Nokian's are seriously good winter tyres.
 
Roads in Norway are kept pretty clear in winter (can't speak for Sweden). If you come across conditions that are so bad that you need studded tyres, the road will probrably be closed till it's sorted. And remember studded tyres aint much cop when you get off the tarmac. I personally would go BFG all terrains and chains, which I think is compulsory to have in Norway.

PS. The chains are compulsory, not the BFs (although they should be :)

Try looking on ex mil dealers as used to be able to buy them quite cheap , I had a set 900x20 for Austin K9 with studs , that i used in winter. They are usually in 750x16 size for mil landrovers HTSH
 
In sweden, the roads are kept relatively snow free and I believe it is a legal requirement to fit winter tyres between certain months.
 
It might be cheaper to find a set when you are in Norway. More competition and sales may well knock down the price of a new or 2nd hand set. I think there may be a law in Norway which makes it illegal to drive an unploughed road in wintry conditions or when there is a certain amount of snow/ice/sludge on the road. Worth checking up on as I was only there in summer when there was virtually no snow, only a light dusting on some high peaks.
