Hi guys,

I have been in portugal this past month and my landy 2001 TD5 110 (160k km) has been acting up a little.

First I replaced the battery, because I was due.
The sometimes I would have problems starting (just a ticking when I turned the key) refurbished the starter engine all fine.
Then sometime the fuelpump doesnt come and no glowlights on the dashboard. Clicking the key a couple of times would solve that problem and the engine would start and run without issues.
I sometimes had the problem that the engine would miss a beat like a cylinder would properly work. Usually I would stop the car and restart the engine all fine.
Today on my way back to spain it started doing that while I was driving, and I cant get rid of it. Currently in a hotel near the spanish boarder trying to find a mechanic that knows LRs. Got all my tools with me so I can also get involved.

Any ideals? Electronics? EGR dirty. it now misses a beat and shakes a little even just idling. Of course while driving I have a performance loss and I dont want to bust anything else.

thanks for any tips.

eric

The initial stuff sounds like a bad earth/short. check all your connections from your battery and check to make sure the battery is good. just because it is new, does not mean it is good! Check the connections on the starter also and the engine earth strap.

I dont know TD5s so the other stuff I know nothing on.

^^^^^^^^^ :5biagree:
Also I'd check fuel pump and starter relays next.

Rough running could be several things from blocked injector to oil in the loom. You'll need to check both ends.
When was the last time you changed fuel filter?
Could just be crap fuel.
