Think you're right, just zoomed in on the picture. That stud doesn't look snapped to me. Looks more like the top of the nut has snapped off leaving half of it still on the stud. If you take the wheel off you may be able to just spin it off the stud.
I complained at my local tyre garage.. he said he always uses a gun because you set it to the correct torque.Think you're right, just zoomed in on the picture.
In that case I would hazard a guess it was over tightened and snapped off going down the road.
I always check torque setting if a vehicle of mine has gone into a garage.
Thanks, I will have a go and keep you updated. Thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated. That stud doesn't look snapped to me. Looks more like the top of the nut has snapped off leaving half of it still on the stud. If you take the wheel off you may be able to just spin it off the stud.
I'm confident they have done it, but they don't appear to be the conscientious.wheel studs dont randomly strip and fall off while driving along, unless they have been significantly tightened
was the wheel nut lost on the journey home?
I'm going to try to remove the wheel this evening, hopefully you're right.Thread stripped or stud sheared off? Looks like the latter in your photo.
Hopefully the others are not too tight.I'm going to try to remove the wheel this evening, hopefully you're right.
Having used the rattle-gun they are supposed to re-check the torque with a calibrated wrench.I complained at my local tyre garage.. he said he always uses a gun because you set it to the correct torque.
Trouble is he didn't change it from the last car/van he did
Pretty much confirms the garage broke itAbsolute legends!!! Cheers all for getting back in touch. Tapped it off the thread with a small screwy and hammer. Thanks again! View attachment 306713
Tell me about it, long story short I was in a pickle and needed a flat tyre sorting, I was suited and booted so didn't want to get filthy... Paid the lad double as he stayed late to do it. Oh well, sorted now .Having used the rattle-gun they are supposed to re-check the torque with a calibrated wrench.
