I have herd that customs don't like full jerry cans on vehicles when crossing borders or going on boats and trains so i though a extra fuel tank would be a good ides. Plus i think it will come handy when exploring the gobi desert!

Aux tank is by far the best way to store fuel. Keeps the weight low and central and you don't have jerry cans attracting attention. You just going to have an aux pump to pump into the main tank?

Yup thats my plan!

Pump into the rear tank and i am also going to fit a sedimentor as well

Good morning

I have a few parts com yesterday from paddocks so i had a nice day fitting them.

As you can see i have been coating the nuts and bolts with Lucas red sticky grease. I am doing this as a little experiment to see if it will add some protection to them. I might even incorporate a coat on all bolts when i do a oil services.

Look's fantastic and a top quality job, a couple of cheeky questions .....do you keep a record of your expenditure and if so, does it make your eyes water :D ?

I have not kept a track money for 2 reasons

1st it would make my eyes water........alot!

2nd if the miss found out my eyes would water even more after being kicked in the balls!

And the diff is done!

The pinion nut was a bugger to do up and im glad i made the box section locking tool.

Im glad i invested in new diff gears and shims as i dint realise just how much slop was in the old gears comparing them to the new. Ihm happy now that i will get years of good service for the rebuilt diff.

Tomorrow i will get it under the chassis and then im going to have a play around with the rear brake lines and fuel pipes.

I’d recommend the facet red top fuel pump. Pretty sturdy and has its own internal filter that’s removable

A gentle heads up re' Facet pumps [blue, red, silver and gold tops]. Facet automotive pumps are good but they suffer from failure points...

1. they don't like vibration - they must be mounted using the rubber mounts provided.
2. they don't like crud in there filters as the pump is cooled/lubricated by the fuel - always use a pre-filter with Facets
3. ideally, install a Filter King with fuel filter and pressure regulator post Facet pump [in engine bay] to set up correct fuel flow/pressure - the glass bowl units are best giving a ready viewer of the fuel/dirt condition.

I've driven/rallied across lots of rough terrain in many continents using Facets and they always fail if not installed correctly + I'd really recommend running twin Facet pumps in parallel as one day, one will fail and leave you stranded...don't ask :( Oh, and don't buy the little cube jobbies, they crap. Apart from this, they're great pumps :)

Cheers for the heads up!

My plan is to use a stock in tank pump in the auxiliary tanks and pump to the rear.

That’s interesting to know. Never had a problem with mine. It’s just pumping from the aux tank into the standard tank not being used as a pump directly into the fuel system. I prefer to keep things separate. If it fails it doesn’t affect the main tank and it’s located where it can be replaced by anything really.

Aup everyone

Bit of a update for you.

Been a bit slow the past 2 weeks. Started a new and its been a bit full one but back to normal now.

Got the rear Td5 fuel tank in and all the fuel lines, brake pipe and rear lights cable in so i can start to look at getting the rear tub on soon.

My plan with the tun is to raptor line the tub floor and then drop in on to the chassis.
