Sticking CDL had to force it

Went for a drive in the snow, was difficult to engage CDL, and I really had to pull hard to get it out of unlock.

A month ago it was fine.

What do I need to check please?

You have a centre diff lock on a Disco 2?
On the Disco 1 you need to remove the console, drill out the rivets holding down the cover plate and gaiter, then you can remove the pin being careful not to lose the clip, undo 4 bolts (8mm heads on 6mm thread I think) then you can lift out the assembly, take it in the warm and soak in penetrating oil and tap it until it frees up, lube it up and rebuild it. really not a terrible job.

Of course it has CDL, why would it not?

I think mine is cable where yours is lever, but will have a look when it is warmer.

Just very stiff!

Because on Facelift D2's (like the one in your avatar) they rarely have CDL, let alone one with the correct linkage.

My money is on the cable. I have seen many high/low cables seize and the cdl cable is the same design.
Get under and get some wd40 on it and work it side to side. Make sure you spray the clevis and pins each end as well.

WD-40 is NOT a lubricant, it's a Water Dispersant. The cables need oil or grease to keep them working properly.

If cable replacement is required, give the inner a good oiling/greasing before fitting it.

Disc 2 has a cable high/low control which I have known to be problematic through lack of use and the Disco 1 is lever operated. I have never seen a D2 with factory diff lock though

The display lights up and the TC changes it sensitivity, a LOT better on mud than not engaged.

My high/low range cable has just snapped and I need a new one. Can they be fitted from underneath or does the console need to come out?

(50 pence, I've tried sending you a message but nothings showing in my sent box.)
