graphite long term is not good as it clogs behind lock pins.
If you don't like oil then evaporating lubricant will free without the alleged clogging

yep just read that, suppose the bloke who posted the below on that thread didn't go to the same college as you did

"Yep, deffinitely use dry graphite dust instead of *grease*. Same is true for doorlocks. Problem is grease and oil becomes dust and grit magnet. And if ye live in freezing cold wintertime temps never lock passenger doors if car's outside."
 
yawn you were saying something, its only a lock (oh dear your councilor will have to discuss more therapy)
 
Sorry fanatic but I too agree with Sean on this one. DO NOT USE OIL as it will feck yer lock.

Graphite is the way to go.

The lock on the safe at work was sticking. In the absence of graphite I used WD40 to get the fecker open. Bad news was that due to the WD40 we had to get a new lock fitted a couple of days later.:eek:
