Changed steering column now steering lock stuck and won’t start! Help!

TBH I have used multimeters and other meters made by Gunson for a very long time.
Needed them to do points dwell and to act as a rev counter back in the days when only sports cars or limos had a revcounter!!
Needed a revcounter to do the ignition timing. As well as my "tachostrobe". Never did get an exhaust gas analyser to do the mixture with. They weren't cheap nor were they very accurate. I do have one of those things you put in place of the spark plug to look at the colour of the flame inside the cylinder, again, only worked properly with a car whose carburettor wasn't worn.
And who remembers doing "plug cuts"!!!??? Also a carb balancer. Although some people swore they could do it by ear. With a tube.

I am of course aware that I am talking double dutch to quite a few members on here!

Do remember some of those Gunson products , years ago they seemed to be in every car shops , motor factors etc

Never heard that before ref a tube , remember I had to get my carbs balanced by a garage for my triumph 2500s

My late Hubbys best mate Ginger, could balance multiple carbs by ear, he worked in a prestige garage at the time ...

The good old colourtune tool, did they ever work that well ?

I am sure that peeps who really knew what they were doing could do exactly that. but I saw too many peeps who thought they could and they had no idea.
I tried and honestly couldn't tell exactly what I was supposed to be listening for, so resorted to trad airflow meters.

Mine is older than that. It was supposed to work without a rev counter but I could never get it to work as they said. But as a strobe timing light it was brill. although no one told you it was easier if you had an extension to a spark plug connector. I pinched one off my Renault 17 before it went to the scrappy, which I still have and still use.

It would have been a lot cheaper to have bought a carb balancer and then you'd have had it for all other cars!

Your Triumph 2.5 s. yes, I am jealous, always wanted one of those. Comfort and performance.:):):)
My Dolly Sprint, when working was fab, but sadly it was hardly ever working as it should .:(:(

Funnily I actually can tune a piano, with just a tuning fork, not one of those electric tools that tells you when a note is in tune.
But then I am lucky, my ear can hear the "beats" when a note is or is not in harmony or in tune with another.
But it is a really time consuming task, the machine would speed it up.
Ginger might do it quicker!:):)
