Steering Box Overhaul/Replacement

£6 of Britpart seals in to mine last May, only did the bottom shaft ones, and so far so good the box is still dry.

It seems by this thread a recon box @ £100 lasts the same time...or less than a £6 seal kit. Also the bottom seals are much easier to fit than a box.

When mine packs in I'll be fitting another £6 seal :D

Rear seal replacment requires removal of the steering box, but once out easy enough remove the circlip drill a small hole in the seal to put a self tapping screw in so you can pull the seals out and replace.
A bit of methodical thinking and clean work area she's all good/ Did rear seals and bottom seals + bottom bearings 4 years ago fingers crossed still good. All for the price of a seal kit and some ATF.
Makes me wonder if the bearings get replaced in recon boxes allowing radial movment wearing the seals, given how many posts complain about short life of them

the bearings are needle roller and as such dont usualy wear (break up sometimes but it knackers shaft making box scrap for reconditioning) shafts pit where seal runs and poor set up
