finally turned up. I've put a layer of screwfix red on my axle already in lack of patience. Think I'll let back a bit then bang on a coat of this. This should last a while lol

Just priced up everything for my axle rebuild bar calipers. I have the choice of refurbing calipers myself or buying fresh. I've refurbed a few sets if the past. Not exactly fun but may do it anyway to keep costs down.

£144 for all new seals, timkens, mudshields (cheapest I can find is £20 each gen LR 100 odd!!!) and gaskets.

I love how cheap LR parts are!!!

All ordered including helicoil kit :). Axle awaiting 2nd coat of bonda then I'll coat with some kind of colour from work I think.

The screwfix paint on the diff is still soft after two days

Think I may just wire wheel it back off and put bonda on straight to metal.

I love getting new tools. I was reading a series build thread on here, can't remember which but it was a tidy build. I went for same kit as them.

same recoil kit as what i buy simple and reasonably priced you can get various length inserts if needed

That's good news. By chance I think that insert length looks about right for the axle. Whilst your on, the two plates on the axle for the bump stops have holes in. I need to chop and weld a new plate on one as rotted through. Don't remember the holes serving a purpose though?

only the spring plate needs holes on the top surface
