youd be surprised what it is capable if-put some AT tyres on and it gets better.
I'd go with someone who's been before to show you the ropes, etiquette, and limitations of your rude height. just be sure your viscous coupling is connected or it'll be no better than a fiesta offroad lol

If you plan to go green laning, it will be cheaper to spend a bit on some modifications. When I first bought my TD4, I thought I'd save myself some cash by not bothering with any mods and just "taking it easy". Even so, I still managed to destroy 3 tyres and completely wreck my exhaust system even though I "took it easy". Not to mention the massive dent in my sill. (caused by low ground clearance) The standard Freelander is totally **** for that sort of thing. Have a peak underneath and look at the exhaust section that goes from your middle section to your rear silencer. That is all the ground clearance you have... If you ever come across a disco 1 parked up somewhere, take a look underneath and look at the exhaust system amongst all of the rust. You will see that it's nicely tucked up, out of the way. BIG difference!

Get some decent AT tyres and the 2" lift kit and you will potentially save yourself a lot of money. I still need mine lifted but I got a feeling that I will be needing a new turbo so that can wait... I recently had 4 new General Grabber AT (Not AT2) tyres fitted to my TD4. They are actually quieter than the road tyres that I had on previously. Not only that but they have given me a little bit of extra ground clearance too.

Those who claim that standard Freelanders are great off road are the same people who get caught trespassing in fields. Don't listen to anything they say!

i'm sorry m8 but if you have been on a green lane and done all that damage you are doing something wrong there. if you are reading the road then you should be able to tell where you can get and the limits of your ground clearance. i have had 2 freelanders, both standard apart from a/t tyres and never had a problem on green lanes or pay and play (my discovery was better though).
oh, and i never trespassed across fields either.
know your vehicle, know it's limits and you won't go far wrong.

First thing I would do it buy a new sump guard, or strengthen the standard one.

I’ve got AT2’s, a new stronger sump guard and of course I’ve fitted kers to mine. Apart from that, it’s standard. Video’s below of bala 4x4 and the lro show. I just takes it easy un avoid anything I thinks will damage it. Have whacked the sill too.
