I thought my starter motor was quite easy to change never had any problems with removing it
I would rather do five p38 starters to one 2.0l Vectra that was a right pita to do:(

Folks, this problem has reared its ugly head with a vengeance after a quiet summer. As stated earlier it sounds like the starter is disengaging early. Following the advice above, I need a new starter. Are there any recommendations as the OEM unit at £180 would be hitting my wallet at the moment.

Also how to I check the flywheel teeth as I will only be able to see a few teeth. All RAVE states relates to checks with the gearbox out the car.

Get one off a scrapper?

There is a rubber seal over where the timing pin locks the flywheel. Might be able to shine a torch or get a little endoscope in there and turn the engine by hand to check the teeth?
