SRS warning light frustration!

on a '96 es.

went to the main dealer last week to solve this problem before the MOT as i was told they were the only people who could sort it and it would fail otherwise. anyway they sorted it (after 5 hours and £167!) but today the f**king thing is back on. is this a common problem? apparently it might need a new airbag or something, which i've heard is costly. im thinking of just ignoring the damn thing.

srs light is not an mot failure.
airbags should be changed after 10years according to the manual.

9 times out of 10 it's just a bad conection somewhere that put's the light on.Not just a Landy thing, same on all cars!

The most common connection is the yellow one under the seats usually when the seats get moved alot.

Mine has had this alot, its the yellow connection under passenger seat, simply unplug and reconnect, its when the seats are moved after being in a set position for a while, just as Scotty has reported. VERY COMMON PROBLEM

Guys, Tommy has a 300tdi disco not a Td5 and the 300tdi doesn't have seat belt pretentioners => nothing can't go wrong under the seats that would induce a SRS fault.

The things that can go wrong are the rotary coupling under the steering wheel and the SRS wiring loom/couplings.
It doesn't matter how old are the airbags, they don't induce a SRS fault based on the age. If they are old they might not perform as they should (or even not deploy) in case of an impact, but that's another story.

Tommy, better go back to the dealer and ask them to fix it again, this time for good, 'cause you already paid for this. Maybe ask them where the fault was/is.

a mechanic i know says it might just be a problem with the sensors.

as you can probably tell i'm not an expert, part of the reason i joined this forum! obviously getting the airbags replaced would be a last resort.
