Spring conversion on L322 2002

Well after much deliberation about ride quality and constant air problems , I have bitten the bullet .
Rear springs fitted , not what i would call an easy job but not to complex either anyone able to do brakes etc could do them .
Front strut N/s Stripped and converted to coil over , this was easy but when it came to mounting the spring it was heart in my mouth time a very long spring needed compressing a long way Two sets of spring clamps , needed to shorten the spring enough . then straight forward . front set are handed with new top mounts included in the kit .

The electronics are simple and knocked the warning on the dash display off instantly .

overall its a good kit with everything needed included . i would estimate 12 hours in total .

hopefully the ride will be acceptable tomorrow if the weather holds good i will know .

At least It will be reliable now . :confused:

Each to their own, not something I would do tbh.

However, It will be interesting on hearing how she rides like....?

Having spent £1500 on the air in three months enough was enough . final straw was ECU failed after new bags and new air compressor , two height sensors and a cross valve . its been parked longer than ive driven the dam f**king thing .


Totally understand why you did it but it also makes me sad that LR can't make a reliable car!

I was moments away from a 15k L322 but I got cold feet and went for the p38. Makes me sad!

Hopefully she rides well and you get the use of your car back

Assuming the purchass was reasonably recent, a much better one :) the cost savings will easily cover the running costs for years to come
 
I test drove a l322 53 reg today and got to say even though it was on air it wasn't as soft and smooth as I would of thought ???? Thought it would be like being in a big leather arm chair but wasn't.
 
I have put 18" wheels on mine and today I was thinking of getting the front seats done.
The foam is very hard..
the general ride is fine with 18" wheels..
 
Shame, but it is his motor and his choice...not my cup of tea, but we all have to make choices at times!

At least he doesn't call his a Jeep unlike some who come on this site...that I really cannot abide...fecking morons!

Mine is running on the standard 20"s, i have no issues with ride quality, it rides like a limo compared to my old Disco 2!
I would however consider "downgrading ;) " to 18"s to get some decent AT's or maybe even MT tyres...:D

its finished and it rides pretty good .
the electrics fix they supplied worked like a dream .
ride height although fixed is comparable with air .
the job to carry out the work , was not easy but it was straight forward . except the strut tops they have to be placed just right and were not clearly marked .

Overall 9/10
reliability 10/10 i expect .
cost 10/10 compared to air referb.
