Sport wheels or modular wheels? Decisions...

Don't need longer hoses. Trimming is complete lip removal you can also swap steering arms and rod ends side to side to gain a bit more clearance
 
10mm isn't a lot at the end of the day. For the ease of fitting I think 40mm is better suited to diy. 50 can be a complete bitch. I've never heard complaints about 40 being too small

Sounds like 40mm it is then. Do you do any better price for members or if I pay direct to you or best to just go through your website?

Cool, shall I just order through the website then mate? I really always want to go to the biggest or best available but don't like the thought of too much cutting and bodging. I'm a master tech at BMW so don't mind getting involved but is it really worth the extra 10mm. Only reason I say is because I have a sport model which I believe was lowered by approx 30mm so I'm only really getting back what I have lost as such. What do you think?
 
If it's the sport you can get an inch by putting standard springs on. If your shox are shorter you can put a bigger lift on. If they're standard length you can't! That's where it's confusing. Because even though it sits lower your droop travel will be the same as a standard one so will have the same steering problems. Need to know what shox you have. If they're 25mm shorter a 75mm lift will be the same as a 50mm on a standard one. If they're the same length you're stuck with 50 and the same mods as a standard one and will be 25mm lower. Using 40 obviously the same applies less 10mm and less modifying the wings so it's easier.
Probably confused the crap out of you now :D

Ok cool, I understand, next question is there a way of telling which shocks I have fitted to mine, for example a sticker on the shock or by chassis number? I know on our BMWs here at work there is a code on a sticker that tells you if the car has sports suspension or standard. Is there a way of telling without taking them off and measuring at all? I'm ready to order but want to make sure I get the best lift I can. If I do order today for example, when would they arrive?

Get the colour code off the springs ;)

That wouldn't tell me if I have shorter shocks though would it? That would just tell me about the springs, need to know if my shock struts are shorter or standard length really. Unless you really need the extra 10mm or are sure your shocks are shorter don't bother. I want to use my car off road so need every bit of ground clearance I can get. Have a read at my thread and see what I've been through then you'll know the answer.

The colour code on the springs will tell you what length springs you have fitted. Then you can decide which lift to go for, or just change the springs to longer version to achieve the lift you want.
So if you post the spring colour in here, someone will be able to tell you what length you have ;)
