Hi Guys and Gals...
Im not sure what to call this but its a gaiter/grommet on the bulkhead just above drivers left knee. It has a plastic tube a bit like tumble dryer pipe, ridged etc and it only seems to contain electric cables so its a bit of a conduit. Anyway, the ribber grommet/gaiter is split and seems to be the cause and root of water ingress into the driver foot well. Does anyone know what this is, how difficult to replace and how long its likely to take?

Grommets to protect wiring looms where the loom pass through holes in vehicle panels in this case, are fitted in the production of the loom before any plugs etc fitted to the wire tails at the end of the loom.
Therefore it’s impossible to fit any replacement grommet similar to the original in the position required on a loom with the plugs fitted and loom in situ.
There are split grommets available that can be clipped or stuck together, so if you can get access under the dash, then fit a split grommet, I doubt it will be easy.
I think most would use a decent sealant to seal the grommet externally to stop the ingress of water, I assume that the external will be within the engine bay.

Thats what i was thinking. Im not surprised the rubber has split/perished and sealant in both engine bay and inside up against the offender may just help. That you for the reply
