Speedo working (mileage not)

Whilst it may sound like a blessing, its actually a big pain in the arse esp when it comes to insurance and MOT etc.

The speedo works fine on my disco series 1, however my mileage and trip mileage wont rotate anymore and is stuck on 159999 (almost as if it couldn't quite manage to roll over to 160000)

Id imagine you cant get in to tinker with the cogs, is my only option fitting another one ?

you can take them apart and probably fix it by by just "helping" the mileage to just click over to 160k. The gears are probably worn and for it to click over to 160k it must turn 5 digits so by helping it round it will then only have to click over upto 4 digits for the next 10k.Hope this makes sense

Would that also be stopping the "trip measure" stop progressing too ?

Yes there are, Rave workshop manual or the good old Haynes manual.
