2001 hse so has the hk system. I've had her just over 2 years and when I got her the radio worked but sound only from the 2 front speakers, steering wheel controls all work but no cd player. I removed the left hand boot panel and noticed 2(?) Speakers with ripped paper cones(I say 2 but memory can fail after 2 years plus). I didn't know and still don't know what that 2 speaker thing is. Underneath all that was the cd player which I removed and dismantled to retrieve a copy cd which was jamming up the gubbins. Put it all back together and the cd player worked great. Don't use it much though and at some point it decided to stop working again.
I've read of amps, woofers and things in the doors which is gobblykook to me but I would like the sound system to be working something like as its not good as it is. Standard head unit which I want to keep, I like originality and everything appears fine with that unless only the 2 front speakers working is a radio problem?
I've read that the amps are hard to get and used ones are a gamble as well, would a knacked one cause my rear 2 passenger door speakers not to work? (Told you I'm ice clueless)
Is fixing the 2 speakers in the boot going to achieve anything if other bits are broke?
Just don't know where to start :vb-weyes:

the 2 speakers in the box are the sub woofers, stuck in the boot because its out of the way. you can put new rings on if the actual cones are OK or you can buy new speakers (need the right ones) to fit in the box
if you fix them then things will sound nicer as the rest (front) speakers arent designed to give a full sound

Just to clarify Nev incase I wasn't clear, the 2 front speakers work, the 2nd row speakers nothing, not even a buzzing, same with the sub woofer speakers , no crackling buzzing ...nowt.
I'm guessing there will be electronics controlling these sub woofers ? Is it possible with a dmm to check for power, if that's the right terminology, at the wires directly on the sw speakers? It's raining cats and dogs here otherwise I would start fiddling.
