Hi all i have done a search but only found threads a few years old and links didnt work as im on my phone
My question is what sound proofing is best for inside the cab and also would like to sound proof the bonnet on my 90

I found that soundproofing the bonnet didn't really do much. it was disappointing. I found doing the seat boxes, seat box 'lids' gearbox tunnel and footwells made the biggest difference. get some hard, thin sound proofing for the first layer then ontop of that closed cell foam or soundproofing backed carpet. Don't make it too thick. Many say stable matting, its alright for the back but not ideal for the front where it will look a little clumsy. I have done a lot of soundproofing to my land rover. I mean alot :D
 
Thanks mitch any chance of a picture of what yours is like now i have a new carpet for the front but before i fit it i want to sound proof as much as i can

I have in the past used flashing on the floors, seatbox and gear tunnel area as well as roof and side panels. I then applied foam capping mats which came from poundland before covering it in carpet. This inexpensive approach was fantastic, it worked really well!
 
I've posted this to two current sound proofing threads. When I changed the HU and speakers in mine I wanted to improve the bass response from the front doors so to give them a bit more mass I used Brown Brothers sound deadening sheets from Partco. It's like a adhesive backed lead sheet about 1 or 2mm thick, panelled the doors with it and it did a pretty good job on the audio response. All the reviews rated it well and said it did just as good a job as more expensive sound proofing products.

Hope those work.... I also put soundproofing in all the doors. Under the carpet in the footwells is closed cell foam.I would have done hard mat beneath but the foam was cheap at the time. I havent had time to put all the seat in the back again yet. headlining was a bitch to do but looks real nice and uses the same carpet/soundproofing stuff as the footwell's arches.
 
Closed cell foam + high temp adhesive - cheap and effective

The above + a layer of rubber - cheapish very effective

Closed cell foam + dynamat - Almost Range Rover spec.

Got to remember alot of the sound in a fender is from vibration usually from the bulkhead transmitting up the windscreen.

However adding closed cell foam in the doors, pillars and seat box makes a massive difference.

One thing i also did was a strip of 2mm closed cell foam round where the door meets the rubber. Less road noise and more water proof.
 
Thanks for that info greatly apreciated and the back of mine me and the old man did a few months back but didnt do the front i will order some stuff and give it a go over my xmas hols thanks everyone

Mitch where did you purchase your carpet/fabric from.? How much did you use to cover seatbox and headlining.?! That's exactly what I have been looking for. :)

Yeah its not bad stuff that, plastic backed for easy sticking aswell. It's NoiseKiller soundproof backed carpet. Bought 2 sheets from them at the LRO show for £15 a sheet. This was enough to do all of that as they are quite large.
