Sound proofing

When I rebuild mine im going to dynamat the bulkhead then add foam anywhere it will fit! I had a ride in a Defender that had the bulk head dynamatted the sound difference was amazing. Like being in a regular car! Lol

Dynamat is very overpriced though. That stuff I gave the link to as the bottom layer is pretty much the exact same stuff as Dynamat.

That layer is a vibration dampener. Only has to cover about 25-50% of panels for it to work. Panels with lots of folds etc need less as they don't vibrate as much.

However a Defender with large flat panels and most of them being aluminium, it be best to go 50-75% at least if not full covering is possible and affordable.

The next closed cell layer then will absorb noise and especially low/high frequency sound waves (I always get mixed up which one does what) and will also help kill vibration as well as give some bit of heat insulation too so a Defender isn't a icebox during the winter. The closed cell stuff is waterproof too so no worries when wading.

The last layer then reduces all the remaining noises. The moisture resistant properties of this layer would have to be considered as many materials that can be used for it will absorb water as they are effectively a foam/carpet material.
