We recently bought a 1999 3 door Freelander which was running perfect. The other day we bought a Sony Stereo to replace the original R770 head unit. All the plugs seem to fit fine and have the new Sony Stereo working great BUT......
As soon as the new stereo was in, the fuel gauge reads full (even though its not), the tail gate motor keeps running and the indicators seem to make the rear motor louder.
The central locking seems to be intermittent too.
Turning the headlights on seems to influence the tail gate motor.

When buying this Freelander, the garage said something about a particular wire that needs connecting to prevent some electrical problems. (not sure what problem).

All we can see is an orange/red wire on the car harness that is not connected to anything on the stereo.

Is anyone aware of this problem?

Can anyone PLEASE help us????

SONY ISO plugs should be fully compatable with LR ones.

There should be a wiring diagram in the SONY instructions

does that model have wired/wireless remote controller?

If so.... it may not work with controllers on the steering wheel.

Hi everyone.
Seems the car is fixed now and running perfect with the stereo in. After alot of trouble shooting and fiddling around, the thing that was causing all the problems was the earths in the engine bay. They were all corroded so with some cleaning, it seemed to fix the problems.:D
The thing that confused us was that we were warned about a potential electrical problem when fitting the stereo and because everything went tits up when we fitted it, we thought it was because of the stereo when in fact it was just pure coincidence. So panic over.
In relation to the last question about bluetooth, no i dont have that. Sorry i cant be of help.
Happy freelandering!!!!!;)
