Having read thru the pages, If you had said at the beginning that you had a receipt which had the engine number on it and that number matched the V5 then I would have asked straight away if YOU had checked it.

You found that number today, I take it it was where the manual states it should be. So I wonder why they could not find it.

Even a good application of a wire brush and cleaner can still leave it obscured.

It shows up better in the picture with the flash from the camera. Can hardly see it it reality, though that might have something to do with my eyesight!

Would probably show up with a bit of a rub down with some fine emery tape.

I've never seen my chassis number, never looked for it and probably never will. I think the OP panicked us a bit when he said the chassis and engine numbers had been ground off. That is a lot different from saying can't find them. Anyway looks like it is a good honest landy with some of the landy characteristics we are all familiar with.

a guy was selling his chassis on ebay like that ,was able too post

reported it has I've done many times before and since ,
