whats the problem with the original airbox ?

Its cracked around where the red dots are and been fibre glassed
back together.

I'll get some photos on Monday

Here's a couple of photos of my old airbox, still serviceable but not good
enough to fit to my project.

Phil at Twenty Ten has found a bottom section thats in perfect condition
so i'll be using that

The heat reflective sheet and tape arrived today so that'll be
fitted soon, good for over 500C or 1000F so that should do the
trick with a bit of luck.

I'm also considering moving away from the wood look on the doors, dash and
centre section around the gearchange, i'm contemplating doing them gloss Black
to make it look a bit more modern inside !!!

New rad and oil lines ready for the new engine which we should have before the end of the month.

I will be making the EAS link arms so if anyone needs them let me know, i'll post some photos
up once i have a set on my car.

how about the carbon fibre effect ?

you can do the adhesive film, so it can be removed at a later date if one gets bored of it

Not sure if c/f etc is going too far perhaps, might be worth trying as theres
not that much to do.

I think Beluga Black to match the outside could work better
 
personally for a 1 meter roll of carbon fiber wrap vinyl in black for 18 quid is a good way to go warmed up with a hair dryer it will stretch around the curves and give a nice fit. making it look up to date and easily removable if you decide nah ! i like the wood effect later.

painting over the wood will require the surface to be keyed for the paint to adhere and not get scratched or flake off so its a one time deal.. no going back !

you could always go for straight black vinyl wrap which will cheaper still.

The thing with painting over the wood, the paint will never be hard wearing so rings on fingers will chip it off.. vinyl wrap is harder wearing.

just a thought !
 
Good points Adam, i'll look at the different wraps first seeing as it wont cost much to do and like you say just peel it off if i don't like it

Dunkan, just read all 16 pages, lovely job mate, going to be a stunner when done, those EAS sensor rods look just like the early L322 rear ones!!! can't tell if they are the same length but they look exactly the same, maybe worth trying one of them....

engine looks nice, good too see you got it painted...was glad i spent the time doing mine..

No one seems to sell just the rod, i can get brand new rods but only with new sensors.

No idea what size the P38 or L322 ones are but they look different to me, the classic just has rubber ends.

The classic rods have 8 mm holes in the rubber, rear rod is 150 mm long and front is 134 mm between centres

I've made a custom rod to try and it fits a treat so will make up a set which solves my problem

Fitting the engine up, making custom heat shield and the chassis pretty much ready for the body to go back on
