Smoke on cold start up TD4

Nectar points eh? Are they worth it?

I'm getting double Shell Driver's Club points with the V-Power, and they give regular extra points offers. too

I don't know which would be the best to collect, but they do take the edge off the higher price of the 'luxury' diesel.

I'm also still convinced that European diesel has a higher cetane rating than the UK blend - as soon as I cross the Channel I fill up with French Total Excellium or whatever it's called and I seem to always get around 2 to 3 mpg more despite upping the cruising speed.

There are diesel fuels ... and there are diesel fuels.

French and Belgian supermarket fuels also smoke like hell too.

Its just that the nearest Shell is a 10 mile round trip from me and I never go near it normally so BP and Nectar it is!!! Oh, and I pay on my Tesco Clubcard Visa so its a double points whammy for me !!!!!

Yes, I use the Tesco plastic too, to pay at the Shell station.

I must sit down one day and work out what difference all these little bits of cash-backs and discounts really makes to the price of a litre.

Probably wont be very much - but anything is better than nothing.

absolutely mate.... we get enough clubcard points for our joint full rac cover and a family ticket to drayton manor worth about 200 quid in total! i know its all a smokescreen but it does make you feel like you're getting something back...

Hi guys hope you don't mind me joining in but i have a similar problem on my freelander 1 td4. After changing turbo, crankcase valve ,fuel filter and pressure valve ,i still have a cloud of blue smoke which is sometimes worse than others and even when the smoke isn't there there's a strong smell of fumes all the time. Any ideas would be very much appreciated
