Sliced open my Knuckles - need help !!!

Good Morning

Just about to take my hammer to the windscreen in frustration. I have a 200tdi and trying to attach the Airbox hose to the side air vent. I've struggled but managed to get the hose over the plastic end on the vent but I'm damned if I know how to get the hose clip tightened up. I can't get anywhere near it from the engine bay side because of the space. The only way I can get my hand on it is to go under the wing and peel back the inside of the mud guard but access is restricted there by the metal plating cover inside the wing. Really don't want to have to take the wing off for such a simple job.
Any thoughts on a solution please ?

Have you tried taking the wheel arch spat off ? not much room but enough to get a screwdriver in. I struggled with mine but it did not have spats on at the time.
Walk away when frustrated and go back the next day, things are easier when your calm

You could unscrew the vent take the black plastic part out attach the pipe push it back against the wing the screw the vent cover on . Might be easier that way .

+1. walk away when its not going right, then try again the next day, works wanders. Have a large Scotch.

Thanks for your responses. Finally got it sorted today by removing the wheel arch spat and used a bendy socket extension to tighten the hose clip. Got there in the end, need to be more patient

I know it's done now (well done by the way) I have a draper pro hose clip doer-upper which is basically a flexy drive spring on a screwdriver handle with a 1/4 drive IIRC male end which means I can get a mini socket on to clip onto the clip nut. If that makes sense. It's my go to bit of kit for all sorts now, just makes life easier.

Agreed, one of my favourite tools.
