Ok,if you pop down the shops, and drive carefully to the pub,let RPI rip you off for a single point system - if you want to keep it and really work it,fit a sequential system.(Please dont believe all the cr-p on the RPI website, they are a joke in the trade.)
Sod the Land Rovers,I've had enough of them this week, and I had a day off yesterday.Running a garage doing LR diagnostic work makes for hairloss and a short temper !
Trials bikes are my release,I started competing in 1985 on a Beamish Suzuki, bit of a camel in terms of steering, but well made and reliable.Bought a new TLR250 in 86,lovely looking thing - horrible to ride.(Now worth a packet.) Traded in for a Fantic mono, new in 87,big end went a year later.Sold that and bought an 86 Honda RTL250 - the HRC mono one - also now worth a packet.Horrible thing to ride, but beautiful to look at.Short time later bought a scruffy TY250R mono - best trials bike ever made, had a lovely time with that, much more sucess than the rest and it never went wrong.
A couple of Beta's later and the House/wife/kids came along and I stopped.About 4 yrs ago I bought a nice Beta rev3 and started again, mistake - modern trials need lots of practicing and regular competition, not enough time or will to do that.Sold it and went to twinshock on a TY250,now have 3 of them, plus a 1968/9 247 Cota,(Stripped to rebuild.) and the Ty175/Serow project.BTW the 250 frame is quite different to the 175 frame - it would have been alot easier to use the 250 frame to fit the Serow engine in.The Serow was taken as a bad debt from a garage I do LR diagnostics/LPG tuning for.It has such a lovely engine with none of the horrible snatcheness of the Honda TLR/RTL engines, which you will see why I went to so much trouble to accomodate the Serow's large carb.
I want to get it ready for the Dartmoor 2day in September, but work keeps getting in the way of it.Its lots of time,2 days nearly to make the petrol tank.I can always ride the TY250 if its not done, they are a good bike,at least one of the other 2 will get converted to Majesty spec once the TY/Serow is finished. Have a look at
