should i buy a FL 2?

I am new to this but am looking at buying a freelander 2 2007-2008 deisel. Purely because its more economical than any disco or rangey!

I would be very interested to hear anyones comments on these motors, i was very skeptical as the FL 1 has a very poor rep! However i did get sucked in by a salesman and have seen many good things about the FL 2?

Whats the verdict?

Have a look at "www.freel2.com" excellent site all about Freelander 2.
Friend has one,absolutely loves it. I had a halfday at LR experience Dunkeld on FL2 and thought it was a wonderful car.

But it's only a 2 wheel drive 4x4.
I'd love one but far to much electric for my liking.
My mate has one & loves it

Have a look at a Smart Car or a Prius or... hell almost anything else!

my neighbour has a 2008 model hes gone thru 2 sets of wheel bearings in a year and it spent most of its 1st 6 months back at the main stealers having elecktrickery problems sorted out,they only use it for to and fro to work as with most gaylanders

Forget what all these numptys say! :biggrin1: I have an 08 plate FL2 and I love it. I have always looked at these and wanted one but you are true about the FL1 it was plagued a bit by problems. Have a look on youtube for FL2 its quite surprising what they can do :bounce:

Perhaps so but nobody in their right mind would do it with a vehicle worth £15k+ unless they have more money than sense.

Even doing mild green laning etc, you WILL scratch it. I don't recall seeing many gaylander 2's without scratches so that only means one thing...

If you just want a spacious car to go to and from work, you'd be better off with a Volvo V70. More fuel efficient and 10x more reliable and cheaper.

Its each to there own if he wants to spend that much on a FL2 then thats up to him and that goes for anyone. I dont think he mentioned what he wants to use it for and I dont think it matters what anyone says you obviously have a downer on these vehicles

Thanks for the advice, it seems to me that those who own FL2 love them and those who dont are still very synical due to the FL1 rep. I just want a bigger and better car for bad weather than my BMW 320D touring. Yes i spent many times pushing and slidding in the snow! although the rear wheel drive was fun occasionaly when i didnt get stuck!

I am looking for an 07 (57) or 2008 model so hopefully any problems will have been ironed out! and i will probably not be doing any off roading. Mild green laning maybe ?

What a makes you say FL2 is only 2WD. Am I not correct in saying that 2WD fl2's are only a recent addition to the range.It is 3 years since I drove an FL2 at Dunkeld and it was definitely 4WD or we could not have got to some of the places.
