Hello, I have a question about shocks and springs on a Freelander. I have a 1999 1.8K with original suspension and what I'm wondering about is that would shocks and springs from a diesel model of that same year fit 1.8K and if they do, are they stiffer?
My plan is to get rid of the original exhaust and tig weld a long range fuel tank from aluminium in to that space and fit a shorter exhaust that will come out before left hand side trailing arm.
I live in Finland and our law is allowing to heavily modify exhausts now, just have to have same number of silencers as in the factory pipe, but not necessarily the same kind. So, there will be lot more weight in the back due to more fuel, so I assume that it would be better to have stiffer suspension. I'm not looking to lift the car, that might come later with custom set of springs from local manufacturer.
