Shocker Bolts

Hi Can anyone please advise me the sizes for the front and rear shocker securing bolts and I'm going to fit some new TerraFirma (standard length) shoockers and the firm I'm buying them off say 60 GBP + Vat for the bolts !

I reckon they should be much cheaper unless they are specials ?

Bolt is ANR3482 seen here. But any 12 mm HT bolt will do, i would suggest that if you use unplated black HT bolts you coat them with Copraslip when fitting. Upper Mounting Bolt - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk

Thanks Wammers, thats great I will buy some cad plated from my local bolt store (still copperslip them though) I am really surprised to see they are threaded all the way

Every other car I have changed shockers on have had plain shanked bolts and just maybe 25 mm threaded enough to proturude through a Nylok !

Why would you need a nyloc the nuts are captive on the mountings? Old bolts should be usable. If you get new ones make sure they are HT Halfords blister pack bolts are not good enough.

Thats the problem with ordering bits to come home when I'm in Thailand at work and unable to see the car !!

Thanks will not bother with nuts then !!

Why new bolts? as Wammers said existing ones should be usable

btw: just took off near new Terras, replaced with oem boge - much nicer ride

Just a thing I have , I like new bolts all lubed up with Copperslip then if ever I have to do the job again I know its going to be easier.

I have had a few Reliant Scimitars in my past (still have a GTC convertible) and the suspension on those is basically Triumph and using Trunnions and vertical links etc, first time I stripped my GTE to rebush it took 8 hrs for one side ! After rebuilding with good bolts and copperslip the next time (they need doing about every 4 years) took 20 mins per side

Been a believer since this time maybe back in mid 80's

I re used too.

Would be interested to hear why you think oem ride is better than the Terrafirma's? I've got terra's on back end but I'm not really liking how it rides at the moment.

Boge are double acting, Firma push all the time

+1 have ordered a set of Boge as Druim recommends the firmas that I have are very hard and the roads on the Isle of Man are bad, very bad. Shame they won't arrive before another big trip across UK and then Denmark next week.

Pity you can't get them on before. UK roads are crap too.
