****s!! yer diff is working so as you turn one wheel so the other turns in the opposite direction. try dropping one wheel on the ground and turn tit other

reet yer diff int fooked, put the transfer box in neutral jack the arse end up put it on axle stands get someone to hold one wheel and spin the other the prop spins yes good, now get person b to let go of the other wheel spinn again, now stop spinning round like a loon and spin the wheel the other wheel turns in the opposite directionay yes good now go make a cup of tea and report back!

if you lift both wheels off the ground with the hand brake on and spin one wheel , the other should turn the oipposite direction.
now , drop the drive shaft off the axle and get an assistant to spin the opposite wheel , at the same time and direction as you spinning your wheel and the diff flange should turn.

now , drop the drive shaft off the axle quote]
if yer gonna drop the drive shaft why not go the whole hog and stick the axle on a bench?

or maybe just try one of the other methods that dint require dismantling the drive train

very true me old son. id hazard a guess at there being nowt wrong with it anyways , sounds to me like its doing what its supposed to.

ok when i turn one wheel the other turns ok. but the shaft does'nt if it turn the shaft the wheels turn.if i put the hand brake on the bck wheel keep turning and the shaft is stiff like the hand brake is working. any help

Are you reading any of the posts on this thread yer axles/diffs/shafts/wheels are all doing egactly what there supposed to do. the hand brake only locks the propshaft. If ya jack a landy up ya shud put it in gear & lock diff or it can roll when ya lift one end of the vehicle off the floor.

i good lad so whn the handbrake is on the back wheels should keep turnin dont tink so some how

FFS the handbrake int applied to the wheels it's applied to the propshaft. with the hand brake applied the prop shaft won't turn. and if all four wheels are on the floor neither will the wheels. But if you jack one end of the car off the floor then it's possible to turn the wheels because the axles will turn with out the propshaft turning.

I sold a 109 chassis awhile back and 2 blokes turned up with a trailer to take it away but cause it had been stood fer a while the handbrake had seized
They were hitting the back wheels wiv an hammer to try an free it once i'd stopped laughing i took the hammer off em and hit the handbrake drum and the wheels started turning.
