The landrover will be a monster with that engine in it. I realise that it's stupid but as I can't afford a camaro or a charger this will do

I'll have to upgrade to a 9" ford axle on the rear as well as HD shafts and diff up front but for what it'll be when done it's more than worth the effort and expense

that said.....the engine will last for decades after this rebuild and the gearbox will allow it to be dropped into any vehicle with a central rear axle or any landrover if I use the adaptor that's being made.

The engine may well find its way into something more suited at a later date

the other is now on thin ice, all I has to do is press the red button if he comments

anyways..........engine is now getting collected on saturday as the guys kid is sick and I've made my shopping list up from the states and real steel

The block is being bored out next week too

ok,itchy fingers then is it,he he.so you are not keeping the second v8 in it now?,not even for the trip out?.

Toby has kindly offered me a seat in his disco so I'm gonna go with him for the laning trip, makes life easier for me as I don't have to rush the build now.

That and my gear adaptor hasn't been cut yet so its not like I can use it anyway as I need that to hook the LT230 up.

I'm just going to do as much as I can to the series for now i.e. make the bodywork up so its right with arches and bulkhead repair panels etc. Then strip it all back down again when I get the new engine ready to go in as I'll be making up a new chassis for it from scratch. Don't trust my current one to handle the power of a big block plus I've found out its not straight so I'm going to use a straight but rotten one as a jig (Major Trauma has one he's using so I'll get it off him after he's done) then get the local place to cut me some 5mm steel to the right shape and size, tack it up in sections then I'll weld it all together at home with the stick so its all nice and strong. Will fit military dumb irons too in order to get a little extra height out of this, fit 1 tonne springs to cope with the extra weight of the big block and then get the chassis galved so it doesn't rot out on me.

Will also weld on some roll cage mounts while I'm at it so that I can just bolt my cage on after as I've got one sat here waiting to go on

bloody hell doc,after all this you have now changed it.all that work etc has now been wasted.plus all the **** taking you have had to put up with.but as usual you will do it your way.bloody students,they all say they are skint.bloody liars.

its not what's being created, its the number of times the plans change on the creation that amuses me

like i said countless pages back, i'm here for the entertainment value

and i doff my hat to the work area. been there, done that, and it aint pleasant

keep at it drivel. its all hanging on this, me getting to the lakes to see this thing on the road

Not essentially wasted as the big block bolts in on the small block mounts and the footwell needs modifying anyway so I can fit the spark plugs easily

However for what its worth I reckon if I'm doing the build I may as well do it so its right from the off. I wait another couple of months so I earn the cash and then I'm on a galvy chassis with a big block in it

No brainer on my part there and it'll cost me £400 to make up the chassis and have it galved (If that as I get a real good price on steel work here)

Unfortunately it wont be on the road now, hence getting a lift with Toby for the trip but.......when it is road worthy I will no doubt be taking it for a good spin and will eventually make one of these LZ shows so I'll bring it with me

The work area is slowly turning into an environmental hazard

I've spilt about 40L of oil now, luckily on gravel! So its just soaked through into the hardcore below but still not nice

i dont do museums with static displays. i need to see stuff working and being used

Had to change a head gasket on one of the motors in the boat, apart from a week long job dremeling heads off rusted head bolts, when it finally came off it was joyous but entertaining, could more or less fit my shoe in the bore!

I've got the top end off the small block now and it's the same story bore wise! Pics to follow later
