Think of the flywheel like swinging a hammer, a sledge hammer is slower to get moving, but when it does it's got much more force. That's why utility vehicles are good with heavy flywheels for that moment when you let the clutch out and the flywheel carries it through the initial demand for torque. My R6 revs to 16000 rpm in a second but you better have 4k on the clock before you let the clutch out or it'll just stop dead.

nope, had the V8 clutch but V8 clutch wont fit inside stumpy R380 bellhousing.

Using an uprated HD 130 clutch basically wider and thicker friction plate with standard cover, release bearing is a custom one which is about an inch smaller than standard. Will take a pic before I fit to show the difference and the pinion is machined with speedi sleeve ready to go into the gearbox again but no point until I get the clutch.

Be coming next week tuesday then I can cram it all in on wednesday and weld up the new gearbox mounts too

Std setup used to be 9.5 clutch sd1 flywheel quite a bit lighter considering a good comp motors can weigh almost half a RRC

hmmm is there any difference between the V8 9.5" clutch and the 300tdi 130 clutch then ?

Might as well go with the toughest one I suppose

a 300 will have a heavier cluth and pressure plate as well as a different bell housing. only thing the same is bolt pattern for the transmission, Dont think they are same bell housing as v8

Jai I'm running an SD1 flywheel anyway, thats the one I have thats drilled for the smaller clutch

So still remains, get hold of a RV8 9.5" clutch or use the HD 130 clutch, personally I can't see there being much difference between the two other than bolt location and the flywheel is drilled for a series clutch or any 9.5" I presume if not I can always get the other one re-drilled for £25

As long as the clutch copes with the V8 I don't care what its out of

Oh HD clutch compared to reg 300 is 7mm diameter difference I think, 130 is just a little bit bigger

they aren't I know that as I've got to put on a milner adaptor plate to mate the block to the box

If you've not seen the stumpy housing pics though I'm using a 300 bellhousing with an adaptor plate

V8 bellhousing is wider and different studs hence milner adaptor plate

Just get a std clutch plate no need for HD your motor is lighter than a defender by alot anyhow chassis depth/section is seriously mahoosive compared to a swb 88
