Hi Team,

My 1964 Series IIA suddenly won’t turnover / start / nothing. Started first time and ran perfectly earlier today, as it normally does.

When I turn the key, all the dash lights turn on, headlights work fine etc etc battery seems fine. Though otherwise stone cold silence…doesn’t try to turnover at all. This has happened before and after randomly playing with things it burst into life, can’t seem to find a trick this time…

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Sometimes the exciter wire [ the little one] on the starter comes loose over time. Try cleaning the spade on the starter and give the connector a squeeze to tighten if loose.

Sorry really dumb question - where should I be looking. Very new to this!

Do you have the push button start under the dash? If so there won't be any excitable wire.
The starter button should work without the ignition on, so start there. Check for 12v to the solenoid.

Ah, a petrol 64 2a. will be as above a push button if original. I think I see it in your pic on the bulkhead above oil filler cap. Big wire from battery goes to it and then on to starter which is on the block below carb. Check, clean, tighten connections.

And below that does that not look like a relay ? Although that is at the extreme of my eye sight!
