Mechanics looking at in now , he thinks it head gasket , would that explain banging/shudder? , mot is next week I can't even afford that without anything else !!! Love affair with Land Rover nearly over !
Possibly, blown head gasket can make it run rough.Mechanics looking at in now , he thinks it head gasket , would that explain banging/shudder? , mot is next week I can't even afford that without anything else !!! Love affair with Land Rover nearly over !
then why has it got 2 cylinders that are blacking plugs...Won't start at all now , sounds similar to flat battery , mechanic thinks noise might be a coincidence and might be related to driveshaft and bad running starting may be due to ignition system which is always possible , I'll replace the whole front driveshaft to save messing about , have also discovered accelerator pedal feels a bit loose , could this be a simple thing that will solve all my problems ?
when i said get a second opinion i was being polite
its a situation where you can spend a fortune on blind faith...by relying on some ones word who may or may not have the foggiest,I could tell! It was you that prompted me to chip in!
only change the drive shaft if you can actually see it has an issue, you may have a few coincidences or one buggered engine ,trying to turn engine over by hand might show whether engines tight or not ,loose pedal means littleWon't start at all now , sounds similar to flat battery , mechanic thinks noise might be a coincidence and might be related to driveshaft and bad running starting may be due to ignition system which is always possible , I'll replace the whole front driveshaft to save messing about , have also discovered accelerator pedal feels a bit loose , could this be a simple thing that will solve all my problems ?
i think the main clue is that it was stated 2 out of 4 cylinders has black plugs ,so poss no compression , now while electrics can cause no spark to happen on 2 side by side cylinders in the context of the breakdown as in oil light on...wouldnt to me point to drive shafts, or gearbox or leckysonly change the drive shaft if you can actually see it has an issue, you may have a few coincidences or one buggered engine ,trying to turn engine over by hand might show whether engines tight or not ,loose pedal means little
he did say straight after he took plugs out and 2 were black..now what evers gone wrong..driveshafts ect..dont cause thatthere doesnt seem to be a main clue just a collection of different faults, without more info and things ruled in /out
no but could be a collection of issues with some not causing current problem, how difficult is it to try and turn engine over by hand ,at least you know something then,it may just be a flat battery poor connection etcbb

ive advised compression test..if it turns over, maybe screw a oil gauge into block while its cranking..
but most of all a new opinion
