'77 isn't exempt yet but will be in two or three years as the programme is rolling forward, can't remember whether we are on '74 or '75 but that is for the uk not france.

the rolling programme and year are a uk thing, historically it was stopped at '73 by one government and recently re-introduced by another.

no idea what the rules for france are or even if such a scheme exists

Guys, the work has started! lots of progress done in 4 hours. Take a look:

The chassis was packed full of mud! scraped it out with a spoon.

Just looked online to see they introduced it back in may last year, a 40 year thing... Only another 15 years for my 25 year old rot box... I doubt it will be on the road in another 15 years. Haha

i've hit a bit of a problem with the series's brake pedal box, the pin what holds the servo in is knackerd, completely seized in. I'm going to try welding a nut on the end see if i can get ANY movement, hopefully something happens ;(

You can see timing was too advanced, pistons hitting valves...
CAM01387_zpsqdpsxjes.jpg

Why is this piston so beat up?

cylinder number 2:

cylinder number 1: Why does it look in such bad nick?

and back to cylinder 2

you get valves touching pistons from wear in bearings ,poor tappet clearance, skimming heads , its at +40 now so needs liners to do a proper job

There WAS a case of valves hitting pistons i believe from a bad timing chain, i assume the original. I think over time it's stretched and thrown the timing out of whack. Is that a possibility?
