Job done! :) Didnt take long and no big hiccups really somehow... Anyone got experience with a series injun on an engine stand, trying to work out how to and how best to mount the injun

You need to remove the flywheel, clutch and the flywheel cover off the engine. On the engine stand pic one of the mounting points facing the wrong way, it should be like the other 3. Once you have the bits off the back of the engine just line up the mounting points and bolt up. My 2.5na has been on the stand for a while no probs.

Have taken off the flywheel to find the mounting points for the engine, correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the main crankshaft seal is very gone!

looks like mine, full of cack! You cannot see it but the oil seal was fitted by a blind man with the shakes! I had to helicoil the studs on the flywheel cove because every last one was knackered, Some of the studs had been wound in too far and the unthreaded bit essentially rubbed the thread out and some studs came out with the thread from the cover still on them.

Seal looks like its had its Day! :D

Good work with the injun stand, and I admire the ingenuity of the front loader lift, if knot the nots!

You boys could do yerselves a favour, wheel en outside, half hour with degreaser and a pressure washer, makes the job a bit more of a pleasure! :)

Cheers fellas I reckon my hands could do with a good pressure washing too, I'm typing this by voice because my hands are too greasy as I work, I've now removed the flywheel housing and so can see the mounting threads but the bolts on long enough to go all the way through on the stand, any advice besides buying some big strong bolts long enough to fit through and support the engine? See piccy! :)

I reckon I will matey soon as the sods on the stand, my pressure washer is actually currently staring at me from across the yard all set up watching me suffer! :D

I got my PW mainly to speed up washout of my cattle trailer, didn't take long to see the advantages on machinery work.
So much better, easier to diagnose leaks and faults, not being covered in black oil and toxins, and much more likely to do maintenance jobs if earth isn't falling in your eyes when you get under!

I like degreaser/TFR on a stiff brush first, pressure wash after, even the worst examples come up so you could eat off it.

One last post before i shut up shop, before i go and buy some bolts, can anyone reassure me that 4 strong bolts with this thread size will be able to hold this whole engine?! Im anxious but theres no other way!

My 2.25 Petrol was on the stand for a good 3 or 4 months off 4 bolts. I too had to go and get some long enough (I cant remember of I got high tensile bolts or not )

Right my trusty source has got 4 bolts 3/8" 3.5" long high tensile with 1" of thread so should be alright once i get em! Will let my crane down very slowly...

Spent only a short while today removing the propshafts, gearbox nearly ready to pull once the engine is on the mount and out of the way, then only fuel tank and a few odds and bobs left on the chassis before blasting! Sorry for speaking like a diary buts it keeping me motivated and logging what i do and have done
For those that like lookin at a nice shaft..

For Turboman... Only 6 quid for 5L from screwfix

That's the same degreaser I use in my parts washer. I can't use spirit based stuff as the washer was a cheapy one and the pump would probably ignite it and me with it. The screwfix stuff diluted half and half with water works a treat.

Plenty of progress if a bit slow today, long day getting engine on the stand, and the gearbox, fuel tank etc. out. Only a few niggly bits left on the chassis so hopefully will get round to a good blasting session tomorrow!

Plank of wood wedged under engine will help me sleep tonight

Snug parking in the cosy workshop, probably 1cm either end, easy to push in though with nout on the chassis :)

I've only just noticed but your chassis has been modified, the box section that goes between the chassis rails should have a hole in it for the power take off shaft to go through.

You mean 'shoddily repaired by some muppet with the wrong parts', its been put on as with many other patches, theres one part of the rear quarter thats not even straight, what do you reckon would be the best solution? Leave it be or get a new bit, im not planning on ploughing fields just yet :D am hoping to get blasting today so will reveal the rest of the naff stuff, and post piccies of what could/will be welded :)
