Going to look at this 1961 series 2a. All thoughts appreciated. Sorry for the members who must be constantly sick of new 1 post members putting up these kind of threads! I must add I do contribute in other (non - mechanical) forums and help out newbies where I can!

30k isa miles. Stacks up with MOT history.

What about the chequer plate additions to body. Has this been butchered or an original variant?

Approx Value?

Thanks in advance

Be interesting to hear some thoughts/ guesstimate first.

I see these chequer plate additions advertised online but not on many series 2a photos.

Apart from the Rambo wannabe checker plate, bumper and wing mounted ariel and the comedy stickers it looks quite nice. Is the seller one of the Village people by any chance?

Looks ok for a much modified 2a.
Chequer plate is terrible but removable, botton of doors and wings chequer plate usually means that the edges are gone.
What is chassis like as this will have a big say on overall price.
Pull all the crap off and value will rise.
Price looks ok if running well and chassis good.

I though 3k was very reasonable, and had maybe 4-5k in mind. Agree with @Gmacz get rid of the obvious and it would be more attractive to a greater audience.

I would expect a few issues for resolving at that point of the market but if the big bits are ok I'd say 3k is a bit of a bargain for a tax exempt, solf top 88.

Looks pretty good from the pictures, and I must admit that I do like the polished bonnet.

The treadplate is probably just covering the rot on the door bottoms (standard stuff). Bit odd that they've put the bit behind the back wheels on horizontally, but I'd take it all off anyway.

Price doesn't sound very optimistic at all. Which means it needs a very hard looking at and a thorough test drive.

Bottom of rear wings have been cut down too. For £3k it's probably priced well if the chassis and bulkhead is solid. For me personally, I would prefer a more orignal vehicle which hasn't been personalised to such an extent. Kind of lacks character.

What engine does it have? Worth finding out what's been done to it over the past few years mechanically (hubs/ swivels, engine work, brakes clutch etc.
