I think a logical plan of action needs to be formed if you're working on this yourself.
From what I have read, I would initially suggest:
1. Remove head again to replace gasket with new one and inspect cylinders / hot spots at same time.
2. Replace fuel filter and bleed system
3. Start and test run engine
4. If still not good remove each injector and check spray pattern. Consider getting them serviced / calibrated if in doubt
5. Start and test engine again.
