So, I'm not happy with the way Itchy's exhaust hangs so low - it's only a matter of time before it gets ripped off.

My mate's pretty handy wiv a welder (linky) so I fought I'd get him to fab me a custom one.

My plan is to leave the four bolt manifold on, keep the existing route through the wing into the wheel arch but fabricate it all up, 90 bend, custom made 8" silencer with baffles and packing and another 90 bend out behind the front wheel with a nice stainless finisher around the hole. Should work?

Found this place what does the baffles (linky) , the rest will come off Lee's shelf. All in stainless, of course. 45mm tube.

Anyone see any fatal flaws in my plan..?:rolleyes:

Exiting low down, yeah in front of the door but...

I was thinking of putting a stack up outa the wing but decided against as I'd like to get the roof off in the summer!
 
Go for it I say I made mine for the V8,it goes from each downpipe into one big pipe above the gearbox xmember then along and over the axle,across to the drivers side and then exits out the rear panel with a "little" back box :D

I really don't see that as that much of an issue - scratchy didn't have gaskets (the exhaust downpipe had been off that many times that they didn't exist any more, and a hole in the down pipe, and holes in the footwell and floor. Didna kill me,,! :eek:

I'm thinking of getting some sliders fitted at some point... and I want the exhaust exit above the chassis / sliders.

Also, I'm thinking wiv it being nice and short I won't need any mounts. Simples?
 
True but cherrybombs sound good ;)

I've got one on the V8 if you want, new engine manifolds wont match up and I'm doing twin side exits anyway, if you want the old one you can have it cheap. Its not a header one but exits under the door on the 88 so with a bit of fettling could make it a few inches shorter and have it through the wing

Nah, yer alright. I'm looking forward to a Lee fabbed one in high grade stainless...
